finished.

finished. i think.
it has depth (not as in distance).
though it does have that too.
depth as in, there is a lot to it.
layers.
texture.
strength.
contrast (light and dark).
rich, deep colors.
you can't see it in the photo but the black has so much color to it.
red, yellow, white, purple.
i can't tell you how much better it looks in person.

When I'm in a place like I am now, I often go to the art museum. I bum around and look at all the things I love and realize that I still love them for all the same reasons Ive always loved them. I love the Degas because of the palatte knife slashes that create her shoulder blades. I long to touch it. That's one of the reasons why I love sculpture....it LONGS to be touched and lived and experienced. That's how this painting feels. Like it wants to be touched. It wants to be an experience in texture and color...all the color in the black.

long story short (as if i COULD) i dig it :)
